Sacred Heart Church is offering tuition assistance to those students who are attending St. John Paul II School. To be eligible, the family must be an active registered parishioner of Sacred Heart and contributing to the parish through time, talent and treasury.
The family must complete the PARISH PARTICIPATION VOUCHER form and return it to the Sacred Heart office by June 1 prior to the beginning of the school year. This will give Father time to review the form and notify St. John Paul II School.
The Sacred Heart Parish Charitable Giving Committee is currently considering an increase in the Parish tuition assistance to families who are registered, to attend St. John Paul II Catholic School. Our parish population is changing as many families move from and to the Sandhills. This is especially true as the military population has grown over the past several years. Discussion among the committee members was that registration is not always taking place, and there may be many families who attend Mass and are not registered. The committee felt that parishioners may not always understand the importance of registration and the reasons it is required and beneficial. It was suggested that perhaps greater awareness of the reasons and benefits of parish enrollment would be helpful.
In order to help the pastor achieve a definite sense of community, and to help ensure this dynamic in the parish, the Church requires registration. Parish registration creates a two-fold obligation. On one hand, the pastor is obligated to support the mission and needs of the parish. On the other hand, the individual is obligated to support the mission and needs of the parish. For example, as mentioned above, tuition assistance toward a Catholic education is one benefit from parish registration. There are many other benefits, such as records of time within the parish; verification of baptism, confirmation and marriage; religious education; and burial rites. For a parish that has an increasing number of military and other mobile parishioners, these records are most important as a young Catholic grows and moves with his or her family. We welcome all returning and new families to the Sacred Heart Parish, and urge you to please register at your earliest convenience.
