“We live our baptismal promises by serving others.” The words of Father John Forbes. Stewardship involves, Time, Treasure, Prayer, Service and Sharing. As parishioners become more aware of our baptismal responsibilities and God’s gifts to us, we want to reach out to others. Let us begin by asking God to help us dig deeper into our souls so that we understand where we stand in our responsibility to be a more involved Christian, to be closer to God, to deeply understand the psalmist “What return can I make to the Lord, for all that the Lord has given me?” (Psalm 116:12)
The Stewardship Council suggests that each member of our Parish pray in gratitude for the daily gifts that God gives us and ask ourselves, how each of us is taking care of our gifts. One path of gratitude is to work towards the greater good of the Parish. An opportunity to do so is to serve on a Parish Council.
The Stewardship Council seeks to provide an opportunity to develop and encourage our non-liturgical ministries as a means of evangelization for our parishioners and our community. The Stewardship Council meets one time monthly. Please consider becoming a member. If you are interested, contact: [email protected]. We will advise you of our mission and send your request for participation to our pastor, Father Forbes for appointment to the Council.
What is a Christian disciple? It is one who responds to Christ's call and shapes his/her life in imitation of Christ. A Christian steward is one who receives all of God's gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others and returns them with increase to the Lord.
Father Forbes recommends that all disciples read the Pastoral Letter on Stewardship, put forth by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. A link to this can be found under the "Links" section on this page.
Meetings are at 4:00 pm on the third Monday of the month.
The next meeting is on May 16 at 4:00 pm.
