Parishioners have a deeply gratifying ministry when they act as Servants of the Altar. Volunteers may serve in four different ways:
Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist– to support the celebrant at Mass by distributing the Eucharist; ministers may also be asked to take Communion to parishioners who are ill at home or in an extended care facility;
Lectors of the Word of God– read the scriptures at Mass and serve at other liturgical functions, such as reading the Passion during Holy Week;
Ushers– serve during Mass to assist in seating parishioners and also answer questions posed by Mass attendees;
Altar Servers – male and female servers assist at Mass and for special liturgical celebrations such as First Communion, Confirmation, and Vespers;
Training is provided and schedules are established well in advance of the service opportunities. For information and training, please call the Liturgy Office.
