The Prayer Shawl Ministry will now meet on the first and third Mondays of each month. Classroom 8, 1:30 - 3:00. Our next gathering will be on June 6. We do not meet on holiday Monday's or when the parish office is closed.
The enjoyment of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipients. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl or other items made, for example, baby sweater sets and baby blankets, lap robes, hats and scarves.
If you would like a prayer shawl for a friend or family member, they do not need to be a member of Sacred Heart parish.
These items are distributed to nursing homes in the area, members of the parish, those facing personal challenges, hospice, and joyful events. Baby items are usually given to the Women of Sacred Heart baby shower in the Spring for the LifeCare Pregnancy Center in Moore County, located in the county seat of Carthage. Hats and scarf sets are taken to the Coalition of Churches in Southern Pines.
Parishioners! Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting? Want to bring comfort and warmth and a little "Hug" to someone? Consider becoming part of the prayer shawl ministry of Sacred Heart. Requirements for joining- just show up. A basic knowledge of knitting or crocheting is helpful, but we have very skilled members who can assist you with your project.
