Women of Sacred Heart had a festive March meeting celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Featured speaker was Denise Drum Baker, retired art professor from Sandhills Community College. Denise gave leadership to the program that resulted in Southern Pines becoming a Sister City with Newry, Northern Ireland. In her presentation, she explained the whole process which started as a postcard exchange and blossomed into friendships that still exist and small groups traveling between the two countries. Joe Byrnnes entertained with a beautiful rendition of Danny Boy and also sang an Irish ballad which he accompanied on an authentic Irish instrument. A group of members played ukuleles and led the group in singing Irish songs. Lunch was a treat thanks to members who brought delicious homemade soups and a variety of tempting desserts.
