POEM TO MY VOLUNTEERS - 2020 Inside the storage bin there arose such a clatter Workers were getting “stuff” that really mattered. They transferred their bounty to Sacred Heart Hall And, eventually, it looked like a wonderful Mall! It’s been 21 years since the start of this sale And in years gone by, it was an effort to hail. But this year was different, as we all knew. The virus descended and we had a smaller “crew.” But surprise, surprise, our volunteers were ready. There wasn’t a glitch—all their hard work was steady. Their smiles though hidden, I knew were like sunshine The masked customers were less but spent time and money. The result was tremendous; there were no complaints. We all returned home to rest and not faint. Elphie is 12 (?) months away—Oh dear, what a thought. When we’ll meet and decide how to sell what we brought. You all are so dear. Will I see you next year? I hope that will happen and you will return But for now accept my thanks and don't sojourn Too far from me and our wonderful Elphie. Nancy S. Heilman
