Women of Sacred Heart Christmas Gift Bag Project October 2024
Dear Ladies, Last year, through donations from our membership, we were able to assemble Christmas gift bags for over 90 residents of the seven long-term care facilities assigned to our parish. Gift bags were given to all Catholics. The remainder of the bags were divided among the nursing homes so that, at their discretion, social workers could give gift bags to those residents who might otherwise not get a gift for Christmas.
We would like to match the number of gift bags that we had last year, but to-date we have not received enough donations to meet that goal. The past month was extremely busy with the Elphie Sale. I am re-sending the list of suggested items with the hope that those who have not yet donated some items will be able to do so now. You can bring the items to the November meeting or drop them off to Jeanne Ryan in the parish offices. If you are unable to shop, please consider making a monetary donation. Remember: you may donate several of one or a couple of items rather than a variety of gifts. The list follows this letter, is also being sent as an attachment, and can be accessed on the website by tapping on the photo of Christmas gift bags and scrolling to the bottom. My contact information can be found at the bottom of the list. (Some changes to the list: we now have enough 10” x 12” gift bags, but could use some larger ones. We are also collecting small packages of “regular” cookies and candy as well as sugar-free that were already on the list.) Lastly, thanks to all of you who donated baked goods for the Elphie Bake Sale. The mix of items was impressive and so were the results. We topped $1200 this year, the second year to raise over $1000!
