The Liturgy of the Hours, known as the Divine Office, has been the prayer of the Church for hundreds of years. The Hours are a meditative dialogue on the mystery of Christ, using scripture and prayer. The Liturgy of the hours takes place across the world during parts of the day. When evening approaches and the day is ending, Vespers, the evening prayer of the Church is celebrated to give thanks for what has been given to us during the day. During this prayer, we offer our day, to God. Let us join the Catholics around the world in asking God for light to come down on us, to ask Jesus Christ to make our hearts ready for His birth.
