The “Embers”, Adult Faith Formation Planning Committee asks for your participation in a brief survey. This survey will give the Committee information regarding interest in Adult Faith Formation activities/ministries throughout the Parish. We ask that you go to the survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MXLZXTF . When COVID-19 is no longer a threat to our parishioners, we hope to rebuild our active Faith Community and provide interesting and spiritual opportunities for members to enhance their Faith. The survey will let us know how we can best do this. For those not using electronic media, there will be copies of the survey on the welcome desk and at each end of the gathering area. You may either drop the survey in the collection basket or mail to back to the Parish. Att: Embers. One of the Embers members found this interesting story. We are not certain of its source, but we thought you would gather insight from it:
A pastor did not remember seeing one of his parishioners at Mass for several weeks. Wondering if something was wrong, the pastor paid a visit to the man’s house. When he arrived, the parishioner welcomed him in and offered a chair. The man had a roaring fire going in his fireplace and the pastor and the parishioner just sat there staring at the mesmerizing flames. After a few minutes, the pastor picked up the fireplace tongs and pulled a glowing ember from the fire and put it on the hearth. The ember was glowing red-orange with a small flame still being fueled by the heat. After a few minutes, the flame disappeared…..after a few more minutes, the glow dissipated until the ember started to look like a piece of charcoal. After a few more minutes, the pastor took the tongs, picked up the now cooled charcoal and put it back in the fire…. immediately the charcoal became a flaming, glowing red-orange ember. The men looked at each other and the pastor got up to leave. The man escorted him to the door and said, “Father, that was one of the best sermons I’ve ever hear……. I will see you Sunday morning. Thank you.
