Sacred Heart Parish has proudly been an integral part of the Family Promise of Moore County Program for many years. Family Promise of Moore County, located at 400 Saunders Boulevard, Aberdeen, is a nonprofit agency dedicated to alleviating homelessness in Moore County. Assistance is provided in partnership with local religious congregations and organizations, a Board of Trustees, and staff. They are a 16-bed homeless shelter providing services to women and their families.
Sacred Heart supports the program with funds and with volunteers. Our Parish will be hosting once again at the Family Promise house during 2021.
Our parishioners will not be acting as evening and overnight hosts during the CV19 restrictions. We will be notified when they start taking in families again.
Help with meal preparation and donations would be appreciated.
Upcoming dates for 2021:
February 1 - 4
April 12 - 15
June 21 - 24
SHELTER TO REOPEN SEPTEMBER 8TH
Out of an abundance of caution due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Family Promise of Moore County, along with many affiliates throughout the country, have been sheltering families in local motels over the summer. However, FPMC has made the decision to reopen our shelter on Tuesday, September 8th.
We hope to see our volunteers back with us soon but for now, the house will be staffed 24/7 with paid personnel. We will continue to adhere to strict safety protocols as outlined by the CDC. Our congregations will provide an evening meal for residents and we are very grateful for this support.
Stay tuned for further updates.
