At this point we are about half way through Our Faith Discussion Group journey of Scott Hahn’s, "The Fourth Cup.….Unveiling the Mystery of the Last Supper and the Cross". It will take about 7 or 8 more meetings to finish. We will not be meeting every Thursday, however, because of other parish events and holidays like Thanksgiving. We should be able to start our next book…"Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary " by Brant Pitre early in 2020.
For these books we discuss a chapter each week. A typical discussion includes identifying expressions or interpretations of scripture that are surprising, usually best described by the response “…I never thought of that”. The facilitators are adept at developing questions that bring the material into focus and generate stories and testimony that “connect the dots”. I think every member would say they know more about their faith and have made great friends as a result of the study and discussion of the books we choose. We hope to see you on Thursday nights!
Bishop Robert Barron, Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles…writes…”Some autobiography, a great deal of theology, the solution to an old Scriptural puzzle….and tons of puns besides. This book is a feast.”
Meetings are held in the education building of the Fellowship Hall on Thursdays starting at 7 PM. For more information or if you have a question please call the Ministry Heads.
