The celebration of baptism is a public ritual of initiation and a celebration of faith. Preparation for the Sacrament is indispensable to ensure that parents and godparents know what they are doing and committing themselves to when presenting infants for baptism.
There must be founded hope that the infant will be raised in the Catholic faith. If such a hope is altogether lacking, the baptism is to be postponed and the parents are to receive an explanation.
Parents must be registered with Sacred Heart. You may register on-line by clicking here.
The Baptismal Preparation program consists of two sessions, approximately 90 minutes each. The sessions are normally conducted about a month apart. We understand that many of our parishioners are subject to changes in their plans with little or no notice; we will work with you but please contact us early while we still have time to adapt.
Baptismal Preparation is required for those requesting Baptism for their first child and highly encouraged for all others.
Parents are asked to contact Deacon Guy at dcnguyberry@gmail.com (preferred) or 913-306-6216 to make arrangements for pre-baptismal sessions which should be imitated two months prior to the anticipated Baptism date. The deacon will forward the Sacred Heart Baptismal Registration Data Form to you which will ask for information required to record your child’s Baptism. He will also forward information to consider when selecting Godparents.
